A recent scheme for East Staffordshire Borough Council has re-opened for business.
Appointed as Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Mechanical & Electrical Engineer and CDM Co-ordinator, we provided multi-disciplinary expertise for the refurbishment of Meadowside Leisure Centre in Burton upon Trent.
The project comprised a mix of major demolition and internal strip out, refurbishment of the existing building fabric and new build with a complete renewal of the entire building M&E systems (including swimming pool plant). This work has transformed an out of date facility into a much improved leisure centre which the Council has confirmed has shown a marked increases in footfall and, therefore, revenue.
The £4.5m centre opened to a good public response on prior to the agreed deadline of 18th August 2010. Mark Rizk, Leisure Centres Development Manager at East Staffordshire Borough Council confirmed:
“East Staffordshire Borough Council has benefited greatly from the Project Management leadership provided by Edmond Shipway during all stages of the project. The design team; including Quantity Surveying, M & E and CDM support have all played a vital role in delivering the refurbished Meadowside Leisure Centre to much public acclaim. During the first month of operation we are pleased to report that customer response and feedback on the facility has been extremely positive.”
