Delighted to have reached Sectional Completion of Phase 1 at One Tai Afon, a major milestone within the wider Central Quay Build to Rent development in Cardiff.
Edmond Shipway was appointed to provide project management and cost consultancy services midway through the scheme, having to quickly get up to speed on a number of complex matters in a live environment was challenging however with the support of the team this was managed, enabling the project to move forward with certainty and momentum.
We’re pleased to say that Phase 1 has been delivered ahead of programme and to the satisfaction of all parties involved, while Phase 2 remains on track for handover in August, alongside the opening of the new public realm space that will create an important gateway to the rear of Cardiff Central Station.
The completed One Tai Afon development delivers 402 high-quality Build to Rent homes, forming the first phase of the wider 718-unit Central Quay scheme. Backed by Legal & General and delivered by Watkin Jones Group the project is a key component of the wider £1 billion Central Quay masterplan in Cardiff.
With an investment value of approximately £200 million, the scheme will help address the growing demand for professionally managed rental accommodation in the Welsh capital, while also supporting the ESG ambitions of both developer and investor. Sustainability features include roof-mounted solar PV panels and energy-efficient air source heat pumps, helping to reduce operational carbon emissions and improve long-term energy performance.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in achieving this milestone. We look forward to seeing the successful completion of Phase 2 later this year.
