We have now begun work on site for the much anticipated redevelopment of the Nuovo Apartments, previously known as Sarah Point, on Great Ancoats Street, East Manchester.
Appointed as cost manager by UK Land and Property, the firm first became involved with the project almost three years ago when they were brought on board to manage £1.5 million of enabling works, rectifying severe fire damage and bringing an existing structure up to national quality standards.
With Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd now contracted to complete the construction element of the project, the finished complex is set to comprise 166 high specification apartments over 12 floors. The accommodation has 40 units in a separate block being allocated as affordable housing, whilst the ground floor will feature approximately 10,000 ft2 of commercial space available for rent or sale.
Commenting on the complex scheme, David Stevenson, our Managing Director said;
“This development has been affected by a number of delays since it was originally commissioned several years ago so Edmond Shipway are delighted to have been able to help get this challenging scheme back on track. Nuovo is a landmark building that will provide much-needed new homes for local people as part of a wider regeneration programme for the Ancoats area”.
The project is anticipated to complete late 2014.
